What is the tour itinerary?

The tour starts one day after your arrival. After an early morning breakfast, we will drive to Pokhara, spend the rest of the day exploring the place, have dinner and spend a night at a cozy hotel room. The next day, we will drive to Kalopani, a small village in the midst of gigantic mountains. From here the trail winds to the arid and windy valley leading to Tsarang. A scenic drive to Ghar Gompa and Lo Manthang and spends an eventful day in this lost kingdom. Tracing our step back to Pokhara, we will drive through Larjung village and Tatopani. In Kathmandu, we will provide you with accommodation in a 3-star hotel.

What is the tour distance?

It is a ten-day tour that start and ends in Kathmandu. During this tour, we will visit some of the major village in Mustang and Upper Mustang. It is a once in a lifetime experience which you will cherish throughout your life

Day 1
Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu, pick up and transfer to Hotel .

You will meet our airport escort outside the terminal. They will collect your luggage then transfer you to your hotel. Freshen up, rest a bit then visit our office for a briefing of the tour. If you have any queries, feel free to ask. In the evening you can wander around the local market and get a glimpse of Nepali culture. Call it a night after a mount-watering dinner.

Day 2
Day 02: Drive to Pokhara – 200 km / 6 hrs:

After a delicious breakfast, we will hop into a jeep. A six-hour drive from Kathmandu will take us to Pokhara. Within an hour, we will be away from the hustle bustle of the city. Crossing Thangkot, the Jeep descends on the serpentine road for around half an hour. The trail meanders alongside the small town, rustic villages, terraced farms, and streams. Soon we will be driving alongside the raging river named Trishuli. There are numerous restaurants throughout the trail. We will have our lunch there and take a few breaks in between the drive to refresh, toilet and snap pictures. If everything goes as per plane, we will be in Pokhara by 3 pm which means, we will have plenty of time to explore alleys and market of this beautiful city. A delicious dinner followed by a good night sleep.

Day 3
Day 03: Drive to Kalopani – 190 km / 8 hrs:

An early money breakfast will energize us to embark into today’s journey. We start by driving west to a small town called Beni. From here we will drive towards the Kali Gandaki River valley. The view of the valley is amazing as it is in the midst of two gigantic mountains Annapurna II and Dhaulagiri. It will take us around eight hours to reach Kalopani. After reaching here, we will stroll around the village, snap pictures and head back to the hotel where we will stay tonight.

Day 4
Day 04: Drive to Tsarang. 120 km / 6 hrs:

Post breakfast, head to Tsarang. As we move forward, we can see a dramatic change in landscape, the green valley changes into the windy, dry area. Meandering alongside Kali Gandaki and passing through the barren valley, we will reach Tukuche and Marpha. These places are famous for apple and home-made brandy. In Kagbeni, drop from the jeep to register the permit. It is must because as per Nepal government rule, anyone entering the restricted area should get a special permit. From here our journey to the hidden world, Upper Mustang begins. Stop in few places to explore the historic villages and have a fleeting conversation with locals. Explore the Chungi cave on our way to Tsarang. Upon reaching Tsarang, we will visit this culturally rich place housing antique monastery, palace, and stupa.

Day 5
Day 05: Hike to Ghar Gompa and drive to Lo Manthang, the walled city:

: Its time to get the taste of hiking in Nepal. Walk to an ancient monastery called Ghar Gomba from where we can get a picturesque view of the colorful village, pastures, farm, and rustic life. The gomba itself is captivating. The paintings on the walls of the gomba will leave us mesmerized. After spending some quality time exploring this ancient monastery, we will drive to Lo Manthang. We will wander around this lost kingdom before calling it a night.

Day 6
Day 06: Explore the higher reaches of Lo Manthang:

The place houses ancient gombas, caves, and other structures. Today, we will visit Garphu gompa, Namgyal Gompa and caves. The caves are believed to be discovered thousands of years ago thus attract a large number of archeologists.
Day 07: Drive back to Larjung village: While driving back, we can visit Ghhursanbo cave and villages on the lap of rugged Himalayans. We can have a beautiful view of snowy peak. Overnight stay at the Larjung village.

Day 7
Day 07: Drive back to Pokhara via Tatopani:

It will take us around 5 to 6 hours to reach Pokhara via Tatopani. Though the road is smooth on most of the part we might have to drive on the offbeat road too. We will drop off in Tatopani and enjoy a dip in natural hot spring.

Day 8
Day 08: Drive back to Kathmandu and Farewell Dinner:

After an early morning breakfast, we will hop into the jeep to head back to Kathmandu. The route winds through few major towns Damauli, Dumre, Mugling, and cultural site Manakamana Temple. Throughout the drive, we can see beautiful sceneries, terraced farms, and mountains. Have lunch in the restaurant on the way, take a brief rest then drive to Naubishe. A serpentine road over hill will take us to Thankot. From here it will take us around one and a half hour to reach your hotel. Check in to the hotel, freshen up then head out for a welcome dinner. We will take you to one the finest restaurant serving delicious Nepali cuisine.

Day 9
Day 10: Drive to the Airport for Final Departure:

Today your Nepal tour ends. You may go around the local market, purchase souvenir and gifts. Our escort will drive you to the airport for your departure. Have a safe flight.

Wear comfortable clothes. Carry windproof jackets and trousers. You might need both warm and light clothes. Don’t wear heels.

What should I carry?

Since we don’t have much space for storage, bring most needed things only. Bring a backpack that can be adjusted easily in the jeep.

What to expect from our tour guide?

When is the best season to take this tour?

Anytime, however in the winter, temperature drop to -25 so if you are not a big fan of winter, don’t think about touring in this area.
