Sarangkot – Australian camp hiking is a 2 nights 3 days trek offering vistas of captivating sunset and sunrise on some of the highest mountains in the world including Annapurna Machhapuchhre and Dhaulagiri, take us into the wilderness of Pokhara, let us explore the local lives and enjoy short but scenic hike. The trail passes through a green valley, terrace farm, and historic village.

The major places we will explore during the trek are Pokhara, Australian Camp, and Sarangkot. In Sarangkot, we will get the opportunity to delve into the mesmerizing view of sunset and sunrise. Apart from this, we will be spending nights in the remote villages which provide us the opportunity to take a glimpse at the rustic life. The Sarangkot and Australian Camp hike trace the foothill of the Annapurna region. It is an easy trek with the highest elevation of 2000 meters.

What is the hike cost?

Nepal Trekking path strives hard to give the best value of our client’s money. What is the hiking itinerary?

The eight days Nepal tour starts with your arrival in Kathmandu city. A short drive from the international airport will take you to your hotel. Since we have not planned any activities for this day, you will spend your time in the hotel taking rest. On the second day of the tour, we will embark into the cultural tour in Kathmandu city. A short drive to Pokhara on the third day will mark the beginning of our Sarangkot-Australian Camp Hiking. After a mesmerizing night in Pokhara, we will drive to Kande then hike to Australian Camp. From the camp, we will get to see vistas of snowy peaks. Our next destination is Sarangkot where we will spend a night. Wake up before the sun to view the sunrise then head to Pokhara. On the seventh day, we will drive back to Kathmandu. Throughout the trip, we will accommodate you in a cozy hotel. You will be served Nepali, local and continental cuisine.

Hike duration, route, and distance?

It is 8 days trip starting and ending in Kathmandu. The hike begins the day after your arrival with a 6 hours drive to Pokhara. The trailhead Kande is around an hour away from Pokhara. From Kande, we will head to Australian Camp then Sarangkot and end our hike in Pokhara.

Day 1
Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu:

You will be met and greeted by Nepal Trekking Path airport representative. Get a glimpse of Kathmandu in 30 minutes drive to your hotel. If you arrive early, you will get the opportunity to explore the city a bit. A short briefing session will be held. Overnight stay at a star hotel.

Day 2
Day 02: Kathmandu City Tour:

Second day of the tour starts with a delicious breakfast followed by the city tour. Our first destination is Basantapur Durbar Square. The place is surrounded by spectacular Newari architecture. The Baithak palace looks stunningly beautiful. Captivating courtyards, historic temples, and ancient houses add charm to this place. Kumari Ghar, Taleju Temple, Jagannath Temple, Shiva Parvati Temple, and Big Bell are some of the major monuments, we will be exploring. Festivals like Machchhindranath Jatra, Gaijatra, Dashain and Indrajatra are celebrated with great enthusiasm every year. Every inch of this place hold stories, enjoy listening to them while roaming around its alleys.

Swayambhunath, a holy shrine on the top of the hill welcomes hundreds of visitors every day. It has multiple entrances, if you want to use the main entrance you will have to walk 365 staircases alongside the stone chaitya and souvenir stalls but if you decide to enter the plaza from the side entrance, you will reach the top within few minutes. From the top of the plaza, we will get to the view of the entire city. The plaza is popularly known as Monkey Temple as it houses a large number of monkeys. You need to pay extra attention to your belongings.

Pashupatinath with surrounding temples spread on a large area is another major tourist attraction. There are a number of temples, status, shrine, and souvenir hawkers. The main temple is set on the bank of the holy river. After touring around the plaza for a while, we will drive to Baudhanath.

Baudhanath, the major tourist attraction in Kathmandu holds the world’s largest Stupa, decorated with prayers flag and surrounded with several prayers wheels and temples. We will roam around the plaza, have lunch then drive back to the hotel.

Day 3
Day 03: Drive to Pokhara 1020 m – 06 hrs:

Post breakfast, we will depart from the capital city to Pokhara. The six hours drive on the scenic road witnessing a rustic side of Nepal is quite exciting. Crossing Thankot, we will drop down to Naubise then drive through the major town including Dharke Marebesi, Galchi, Malekhu Charaudi, Krishna veer, Gorkha, Kurlingtar, Muglin, AphuKhaireni, Damauli to reach Pokhara. We will enjoy the view of majestic Trishuli river on the way and stop in one of the restaurants to have lunch. If we arrive Pokhara on time, we will stroll around this heavenly city, enjoying the calm surrounding.

Day 4
Day 04: Drive From Pokhara to Kande 1,530 m hike to Australian Camp 2,050 m:

We will wake up early, have breakfast then get ready for our today’s journey. An hour drive on the well-maintained road will take us to our trailhead, Kande. The trail from Kande to Australian Camp is easy and well maintained. We start our trek by climbing gradually on the uphill leading to farm villages. Continuing walking on the same trail we will reach Australian Camp within a few hours. The place offers stunning vistas of lush forests housing colorful birds along with the majestic Mt. Manaslu and Machhapuchare at the distance.

Day 5
Day 05: Hike From Australian Camp to Sarankot 1,460 m – 05 hrs walk:

Wake up early in the morning to catch spellbinding sunrise over the soaring Machhapuchare and Annapurna Range. Have breakfast then follow the beautiful trail. On the distance, we will see Pokhara Valley, tranquil lake and green hills. Around five hours of the walk will take us to Sarangkot, from where we can get a glimpse of the beautiful Himalayas and Pokhara valley.

Day 6
Day 06: Walk downhill to Pokhara and City tour:

After immersing into the spellbinding view of Sunrise above the soaring mountains, we will have breakfast, and then descend alongside the terraces farm until we reach Pokhara. Walk on the well-paved road via Few Tal to the hotel. Freshen up before heading to explore the city. We will visit Brindabhasini temple then drive to David’s Fall and Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave. After strolling around the local market we will conclude the sightseeing. After an eventful day, head back to the hotel.

Day 7
Day 07: Drive back to Kathmandu – 06 hrs journey and farewell dinner:

After a hearty breakfast, we will bid goodbye to this heavenly city. Drive on the paved road meandering through small villages, towns, hamlets, terraced farms and rivers. In six hours you will be in your hotel in Kathmandu. We will meet in the evening for a farewell dinner. Our guides will take you to the finest restaurants serving mouth-watering Nepali meals.

Day 8
Day 08: International departure:

Concluding your Nepal Tour, today you will fly back to your country. In the morning, you may roam around the local market to buy souvenirs and gifts. Our escort will pick you from your hotel and transfer to the International airport.

- Can I bring my child? What should be the age of my child?

Consult your doctor whether they are fit enough or not for a multi-day hike. Though we do not have any age limit, we don’t recommend you to bring children below 18 months. Those below eighteen years should come along with their guardians.

- What hiking gear will I need?

You won’t need any special gears. Carry comfortable clothes, water bottle, sunscreen, comfortable shoes, and sunglasses. Our guides will carry other gears if needed.

- Which type of boot is comfortable to wear in the hike?

Full boots and mid-cut boots support your ankle letting you walk freely. Those with strong leg muscles can sports hiking shoes.

- Should I carry hiking poles?

Yes, it will help you a lot.

- Can I rent the hiking gears?

Yes, if you need Nepal trekking path will help you with that.

Where will I stay?

- What kind of food will be served?

- Is hiking safe?

Yes, we should take proper precaution to avoid any kind of accident. There are chances of injury but don’t worry our guides are trained in first aid. They will help you and take care of you throughout the hike.

- Is this hike difficult? Will I accomplish it?

It is an easy hike. Every day, we will walk for around 4 to 6 hours on the relatively easy trail. There are few ups and downs but not too steep hills. From teenager to old, underweight and overweight, we have seen everyone embarking into this hike and accomplishing it successfully. So there is nothing to worry.
