What is the trek itinerary?

It is a short trek in the Annapurna region. The major attraction of this trek is a hike to Poon Hill from where we will get to witness one of the most captivating sunrises behind the sparkling mountains. Throughout the trek, we will get the opportunity to explore the ancient villages, learn their culture and tradition.

In the Annapurna region, we provide you accommodation in local lodges and tea houses. The room has a twin bed and you have to use the common toilet. In Kathmandu and Pokhara you will stay in a comfortable hotel. Throughout the trek, you will be served with Nepali, local, continental and oriental cuisine.

Trek duration, route, and distance?

Nine days tour in Nepal takes you into the major city Pokhara and rustic villages in Annapurna region. The trailhead Nayapul is a small village with few houses. We will trek through Tikhedhunga, Ghorepani, Pun-Hill, Ghorepani, Tadapani Ghandruk, and Nayapul then drive back to Pokhara.

Day 1
Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu:

Upon arrival, meet our representatives outside the terminal. Collect luggage and hop into the private vehicle or tourist bus. On the way to the hotel, you will get the first glimpse of Kathmandu city. We will drive you to the hotel. Take rest then head out to explore the colorful local market selling all most everything from Tibetan Singing Bowls to prayers flags, incense, bookstores, Khukuri swords, and handicrafts. If you want to taste the Nepali cuisine, there are several high-end restaurants. Visit our office in the evening for the briefing.

Day 2
Day 02: Drive to Pokhara 950 m – 06 hrs journey:

Our guides will pick you from your hotel and head to Pokhara. It’s a long drive but there is nothing to worry. The ride itself is thrilling as the road meander through the hills beside the raging river and give you the opportunity to explore the life outside of the city. If we arrive Pokhara early, we will head out to explore this calm and tranquil city. The city of the lake offers the perfect view of the raging mountains.

Day 3
Day 03: Drive to Nayapul 1,100 meters and Trek to Tikhedhuga 1,450 m:

The first day of trek starts with a two hours drive on the rugged road. Throughout the drive, we will get a glimpse of Annapurna I, II, III, IV and Mt Macchapuchhere. Nayapul is a small village beside a beautiful river. We will take a brief rest, then follow the trail leading out of this amazing village. The trek is relatively easy and most of the day, we will walk on the paved staircase. We will walk enjoying the view of beautiful streams, terraced fields and people working on the farm. Tikhedhunga is only 10 km away from Nayapul, thus it won’t take much time to reach Tikhedhunga. By 3 o’clock we will be in our ultimate destination. Ancient village, fresh air, cascading waterfall, and greeneries all around, enjoy every bit of it before calling it a night.

Day 4
Day 04: Trek From Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani 2,874 m – 06 hrs:

Follow the steep staircase leading to Ulleri. Dominated by Gurung people, the village is vibrant and tranquil with a view of Huinchuli, Macchapuchhere and Annapurna South from the top. Treading on the same trail, soon we will enter the lush forest leaving the village behind. After few ups and downs alongside rhododendron, pines and oak trees, we will finally reach Ghorepani nestled amid the colorful rhododendron forest. The ancient village offers vistas of magnificent Dhaulagiri range, Annapurna South, Nilgiri’s peak.

Day 5
Day 05: Morning hike From Ghorepani to Pun-Hill Back to Ghorepani - Trek to Tadapani 2,721m – 05 hrs:

To catch the spectacular view of sunrise, we embark into today’s journey before the dawn. After grueling steps for 45 minutes in the steep hill, we will be welcomed to Poon Hill by majestic mountains on distance. In the clear morning, we will see the sun rising behind the soaring mountains scattering its rays over the snowy peaks. Dhaulagiri massive, Annapurna, Machhapucchre, Manaslu range and Nilgiri’s peak looks majestic. Retrace the steps to Ghorepani, have breakfast then head to Tadapani. It is probably the most scenic trail with a few ups and downs. Few sections of the trail are covered in ice and snow. Within five hours we will be in Tadapani.

Day 6
Day 06: Trek From Tadapani to Ghadruk: After a hearty breakfast, embark into our journey to Ghandruk.

A few minutes walk will take us to another small settlement, however, there are no any restaurant or tea house. Soon we will find ourselves marching midst of lush forest filled with beautiful waterfalls and streams. After hiking for five hours, we will reach Ghandruk. From Ghandruk, we can have an up-close view of Annapurna South and HiunChuli.

Day 7
Day 07: Trek From Ghandruk to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara:

Walk for around a kilometer to reach Landruk basi , a small village surrounded with the beautiful terraced farm. We will continue descending and the view of charming Hium Chuli will keep our spirit high. Pass through the Chane Khola river’s canyon then walk alongside the rice field until we will reach Chane then Kimche. A short descend on the scenic trail will lead us to the foot of Modi Khola Valley then to Birethani. From here Nayapul is not so far. We will catch a local bus or jeep to Pokhara.

Day 8
Day 08: Drive back to Kathmandu and Farewell Dinner:

It’s time to bid goodbye to this heavenly place. Have breakfast then hop into the private jeep. Within six hours you will be in your hotel in Kathmandu. Freshen up and take rest. In the evening, Nepal trekking path will host a farewell dinner. We will take you to the finest restaurant in the town serving mouth-watering Nepali cuisine.

Day 9
Day 09: International Departure Homeward Bound:

Wake up early, have breakfast then do some last minute souvenir shopping. We will transfer you to the Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure.

From march to May and September to November is the best time to visit this region.

Will the altitude affect me?

Yes, anyone can be the victim of altitude sickness irrespective their immune and strength. The major reason for altitude sickness is lack of oxygen in high altitude. So if you suffer from AMS, start walking slowly, avoid alcohol, drink plenty of water and eat deeply. If the case worsens, hike down to the lower altitude then take rest. Don’t make the mistake of taking AMS lightly, it can be fatal if not paid enough attention.

Do you offer airport-hotel transfers?

Yes, we provide all the surface transportation.

Will I meet my guide before departure?

Yes, you will meet them before departure. If you have any queries, feel free to ask them. You will get time to bond too.

Are the trail crowded?

Since it is quite popular among the trekkers, in peak season, the trail can be little crowded.

Are the food and water served during trek hygienic?

Yes, if you are not in good health, you will never be able to accomplish this trek. So we pay extra attention to provide you with hygienic food. Our guide directs the cook in tea houses so that the food they serve is clean and safe. Moreover, your health is our major priority, we will never take a chance with it. About water, don’t buy a plastic mineral bottle, it’s not environment-friendly. Rather use water purification tablet or boiled water. You can fill your bottle in the tea houses

How to get in shape for the trek?

A good health and a habit of walking 2-3 hours a day would be enough but if you still want to prepare, you may do aerobics, swimming, squat etc.

How demanding is the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek?

This is an easy to moderate trek with few ups and down. The highest elevation is 3,210 meters in Poon Hill and the highest sleeping point is at an altitude of 2,847 in Ghorepani. We will hike in the slow pace to make the walk more pleasurable and easy. So you don’t have to worry about anything.

Where do we stay overnight? is laundry available?

In Kathmandu and Pokhara, we will accommodate you in a comfortable room with attached bathrooms. However, during the trek, you will have to spend nights in a simple hotel with twin-room.

Will I get a private room and attached bathroom during the trek?

Yes, but you have to pay an additional charge and should inform us while booking the trip. However, there won’t be attached bathroom in every tea house. You should use the common bathroom in most places.

Should I bring Trekking Poles?

It’s up to you. If you think, you will need it, bring one and if you are comfortable without it you may not bring it. However, poles provide great support while descending and ascending.
