The 14 days Langtang Valley with Gosaikunda Trek is a perfect combination of religion and adventure trek. Get a glimpse of an ancient culture, lifestyle, history, and custom while breathing in the fresh mountain air and enjoying the Himalayan views. Throughout the trek, we will relish sights of remnants of history, forts, ancient villages, ancient rocks carved in Himalayans, landscapes, caves, mountain peaks, magnetic glaciers, diverse vegetation, and lush forest. The trek encompasses a visit to holy pilgrimage Gosaikunda.

The trek is demanding because of off-the-beaten-path, steep hills, rugged terrain and slippery trails (if it’s wet). We will feel the thrill while marching across the remote and barely trodden trails. Enjoy an adventurous walk into the wilderness of Langtang region and find peace in Gosaikunda. Climbing to Gosaikunda is the most difficult part of this trek as it passes through steep hills. The beauty of this place is enhanced by 108 shimmering lakes. Janai Purnima festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and place is replete with devotees in this time of year. People come here to take a dip in the holy lake with a belief that it will wash away all their sin.

How much the trek cost?

The standard rate of this trek is USD… Various factors like season, trek package and number of group determine the cost. Under the standard rate, ABC provides services including accommodation throughout the trip, all type of transportation except international airfare, breakfast while in Kathmandu, three meals per day during the trek, government taxes, and trek permit. What is the trek itinerary?

Trekking in Langtang region is relatively easy, however, it might get tiresome as you head to Gosaikunda. The trek that starts in Syabru Bensi winds through major stops including Lama Hotel, Langtang village, Kyajin Gompa, Thulo Sybru, Sing Gompa, Gosaikunda, Gopte, Kutung Sang and Chisapani giving us ample opportunity to explore the local culture, customs, tradition, and lifestyle. In monasteries, we will get the opportunity to witness and take part in the daily rituals performed by the nuns and monks. We can enjoy the peace, adventure and find Nirvana in this holy place. This Langtang trek enriches us with the deep knowledge of Tamang, Brahmin and Chettri culture and their belief. Take this trek as an opportunity to look at the world through our eyes.

We serve you breakfast while in Kathmandu and three meals during trek.  throughout the trek, you will be served with Nepali, ethnic or international cuisine (if available). Spend your nights in a simple room with two beds. Charging point and electricity are available. Don’t expect too much because it won’t be possible to provide you with every facility in the remote areas.

 

Trek route and durationdistance?

In 14 day trip, we will hike for 11 days. Starting from Syabru Bensi the trek winds through Lama Hotel, Langtang village, Kyajin Gompa, Thulo Sybru, Sing Gompa, Gosaikunda, Gopte, Kutung Sang and Chisapani. Every day we will hike around fifteen kilometers.

Day 1
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu Airport (1,345 meters):

You will be welcomed by nepal trekking path’s representative outside the terminal then transfer to Hotel. Spend the day refreshing and strolling around the Thamel for last minute shopping or just sightseeing. Our guides will discuss the detail about the trek if you have any question you may ask them.

Day 2
Day 2 Kathmandu to Syabru Bensi (1,462 m/4,795 ft) (6:30 hours):

Eat breakfast and pack the gears needed for the trek. Today we will be driving to our trailhead Syanbru Besi which is nearly six and a half hour away from Kathmandu. Have a glimpse of rustic life while driving on the route winding through the mid-hills, small settlements, colorful forest, and terraced field and raging river with captivating mountains on the backdrop. There a several lodges and restaurants alongside the road, we will stop for lunch in Trishuli bazaar then head to Syabru Bensi via Dhunche. Upon reaching Syabru Bensi, freshen up and do the last minute preparation for the trek.

Day 3
Day 3: Trek From Syabru Bensi to Lama Hotel (2,510 m/8,232 ft):

The first day of trek take us through the Bhote Koshi river alongside Langtang Khola. The cool breeze and the greeneries on the surrounding make it the perfect hike. Crossing the bridge and walking uphill for few hours take us to Bamboo. A short walk away from the village take us to the trail piercing the dense forest of Oak, maple, blue pine, fir, and rhododendron. If we are lucky enough we may spot some of the enthralling wild lives including langur monkeys, wild boars, and red pandas. A mild uphill trail passing through Rimche eventually leveled as we head to Lama Hotel.

Day 4
Day 4: Trek From Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3,307 m /10,846 ft):

steeper as we head up however lush jungle featuring colorful flora, fauna and birds will keep our spirit high. As Langtang Khola starts to appear small, the view of majestic Langtang Lirung come into the site. Crossing a bridge and hiking on the mild steep hill, we will reach Ghora Tabela from where a gradual climb uncovers classical U-shaped glacial. Following the trail passing through yak pastures and rhododendron, we will walk through several Tamang villages. Gradual climb on the trail dotted with water-driven meals, streams, prayers flags, mani walls and prayers wheels will trek us to our today’s ultimate destination, Langtang Village.

We can see the high influence of Tibetan culture in this village; be it the design of house, customs, and tradition. The settlement encircled by stone walls looks amazing. People residing here grow barley, wheat, potatoes, and buckwheat for livelihood. We can see yak grazing in the meadow and farmers working in the field. Another major source of income in this place is tourism.

Day 5
Day 5: Trek From Langtang to Kyanjin Gompa to Chorkari Ri and Back to Kyanjin Gompa:

After a beautiful day in the rustic village, we will head to our next destination Kyanjin Gompa set at an elevation of 2,510. Leaving Langtang behind, we will climb a ridge housing an ancient chorten. Continuing on the same trail we will walk across mani walls, stream, villages, moraines. In three hours we will be in Kyanjin Gompa. The place boasts the epic view of Yala peak, Naya Kang, Dorje Lhakpa, Langshisa-Ri, Ganja La, Tsergo Ri, Kyangjin Ri, Genjempol and Langtang Lirung. After exploring the monastery, we will have our lunch, taste yak cheese then head to Chorkari Ri, nestled at an elevation of 5000 meters. Walk on a steep hill for around hour. From the top, we will see sparkling Langtang ranges including Yala Peak.

Day 6
Day 6: Trek down from Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel(2510 m/8232 ft):

After a hearty breakfast on the lap of Himalayas, we will start our today’s Langtang trek. A good descend for few hours through the sloped hills and trail passing through the dense forest featuring some of the rare flora and fauna will take us to Lama Hotel. Spend a night in a comfortable hotel.

Day 7
Day 7: Trek From Lama Hotel to Thulo Sybru Village (2,210 m/ 7,248 ft):

An early morning hike will take us through some of the most pleasant sights of the valley including soothing river, colorful forests and various species of birds. A gentle climb through the landslide and ascend on the steep hill alongside beautiful forest will lead us to the Tamang village called Thulo Syabru. Delve into the beauty of the village, explore their lifestyle, custom and culture. Interact with local, share your experience and listen to theirs, soak into the beauty of majestic alps including Langtang Himal and Ganesh Himal before calling it a day.

Day 8
Day 8: Trek from Thulo Sybru Village to Sing Gompa (3,210 m/10,528 ft):

Have a delicious breakfast before starting the 8th day of the trek by walking on the steep hill dotted with chortens making its way through Dursagang. Majestic mountains that accompanied us till now start to play hide and seek as we follow the trail amidst the lush jungle. A mildly uphill trail to Phoparang Danda unveil the exceptional view of the sun slipping behind the snow-capped Ganesh Himal. Hike on a relatively leveled trail before climbing gently on the uphill which eventually leveled as we get near to Sing Gompa. Spend the evening exploring the ancient monasteries, observing the rituals and prayers. We may head to a cheese factory to taste yak cheese.

Day 9
Day 9: Trek From Sing Gompa to Gosaikunda (5 hours):

A steep climb for a while will take us to a transition zone where the trail parts into two routes. Following the path winding west, we will head to Lauri Binayak. The dramatic landscape, beautiful sceneries, and green valley provides perfect picture opportunities every now and then. Upon reaching Lauri Binakay, we will ascend until reaching a small ridge which unveils the simmering view of Gosaikunda lake. There are several lakes in this place.

Gosaikunda holds great religious significance for both Hindu and Buddhist. It is believed that if you take a dip in this sacred lake, you will get rid of your sins. So every year, during the Janai Purnima festival, thousands of people visit the place. Upon reaching Gosaikunda, we will explore shrines, offer prayers, snap pictures, enjoy the peaceful ambiance and head to Gopte.

Day 10
Day 10: Trek From Gosaikunda to Gopte (3440m/11283ft):

Leaving this sacred holy place behind we climbs on the rugged terrain heading to Laurrbina la. With the Mansalsu, Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung on our back, we will descend until we reach Gopte. Overnight stay at a comfortable hotel.

Day 11
Day 11: Trek From Gopte to Kutung Sang (2,621 m / 8596 ft) (6 to 7 hours):

We kick off the trek by ascending until reaching Tharepati. The path passes down the hill through beautiful forest with sparkling mountains on the backdrop. Walking on the rugged terrain and ascending and descending for around seven hours we will finally reach Kutung Sang.

Day 12
Day 12: Trek From Kutung Sang to Chisapani(2194 m/7196 ft) (6 hours):

We will start our hike with a gradual descent to a small village called Gul Bhanjyang. A mild uphill climb to Thodang Betini and a descend until Pati Bhanjyang and coming across small settlements dominated by Chhetri and Brahman we will reach Chisapani.

Day 13
Day 13: Trek From Chisapani to Kathmandu via Sundarijal and Farewell Dinner:

The trail piercing the vibrant forests of rhododendron and oak will take us to Borland Bhanjyang. Walk down to Sundrarijal through jungle then follow the rugged trail to Mulkharka, a perfect spot to get bird’s eye view of Kathmandu city. Around one hour of the drive will take us to Thamel. Since tomorrow you will be leaving for your country today we will meet in the evening for the farewell dinner.

Day 14
Day 14: Departure:

Our representative will pick you then drive you to the International airport for your final departure. Have a safe flight. We hope to serve you in the future.

- Do I need to book ahead?

Yes, in peak season the number of trekkers increase drastically so to ensure the availability, you have to book ahead. Moreover, we need to manage everything including your accommodation in remote areas, transportation and trek and tourist permits, we will need time for that. We take the last minute booking as well but it depends upon the situation.

- Can I fly drones in Nepal?

In recent years, the drone has gained a lot of popularity and tourists want to take the aerial shots of the place they visit. However, to ensure privacy and safety, few policies have been imposed by the Nepal Government. Read those policies carefully before flying drone. Otherwise, you might be fined or in the worst case you might end up in prison.

- Which places are the most photogenic in the Langtang region?

Every twist and turn boast epic views. From ever-changing landscapes to colorful forests, cascading waterfalls, serpentine streams, gigantic mountains, deepen rivers, shimmering lakes, and rocky Himalayan, everything is picture perfect. You will find enough places and time to take pictures.

- Is there laundry service at tea houses?

No, you have to wash your clothes yourself and dry them in direct sunlight.

- What meals are included?

In Kathmandu, you can find every type of eatery from small cafes to high-end restaurants offering everything possible. However, in remote areas, there are few tea houses offering Nepali cuisine, ethnic meal and in some places, you may find continental food too. Though we try to meet your every demand, you might have to compromise in a few things as in high altitude, it’s not possible to manage everything.

- Do the tea houses have electricity, telephone service or WiFi?

Yes, electricity is available everywhere but the same cannot be said about telephone and WiFi. Due to weak network, it’s not possible to find telephone and WiFi, however, in some village, there might be telephone service and cyber cafes but please take a note that the speed is really low and the price is high.

- Is it a compulsion to have travel insurance?

Yes, to cover the unpredictable situation like health issues, trip cancellation etc, you need to purchase comprehensive travel insurance. ABC does not sell any type of insurance, so buy insurance in your home country that covers all most everything. It will help you save money and enjoy a vacation without worrying. Without travel insurance, Nepal Trekking Path won’t be able to serve you, in fact, none trekking agencies in Nepal will serve you.

- Who will the guide be?

To elevate your experience and provide you with the opportunity to explore every nook and corner of the Himalaya region, we provide you with the local guide who knows the mountains like the back of their pam. They are trained in the first aids, guiding and handling an adverse situation. They will take proper care of you and ensure your well being and safety.

- Is tipping expected?

No, tipping is not expected when it comes to waiters and drivers. But it’s good to help those who have to accompany you in the trek and made your Nepal visit eventful. You may tip your guides and porter to help their family financially. And somehow it’s expected.
However, you want to tip them or not is up to you. Our staffs won’t give you a cold shoulder if you don’t want to tip them.

- Is it safe to travel with you?

Nepal Trekking path is a reputed tour operator and knows for being responsible towards its stakeholders. So, your safety is our first priority. Our guides and porter will take a good care of you throughout the trek. If you have any issues you may talk to them and they will resolve it right away.

- Do you customize the trip according to my need?

- I don't have any trekking experience, can I complete this trek?

This is a relatively easy trek and you don’t need any experience to navigate the trail of Langtang. Old, young, underweight and overweight every type of people have complete this trek easily so there is no question you can not. If you love adventure and are ready to tackle with few hassles then you can easily summit this trek.

- In which season is it best to embark in Langtang Gosaikunda Trek?

You can trek throughout the year. However in the wet season i.e. July & August, the trail can be slippery and muddy making it difficult to walk and ascending uphill becomes more challenging.
