Chandragiri Day Hiking takes you into the mystical atmosphere away from the busy city. Chandragiri is a paradise for nature lovers and is an ideal place for birdwatching. This short hike will let us explore diverse flora and fauna. The places homes 13 species of mammals, 137 species of birds, 53 species of butterfly and 9 species of herpto fauna. The place is popular for medicinal herbs as well. Moreover, we will get opportunity to observe the local lives and learn their culture and traditions. People residing in this area are humble and welcoming.
A popular hill station in the midst of dense jungle houses several trees and small herbs. From the top of the hill, we can have a clear view Kathmandu valley and peak at sparkling mountains at a distance. Langtang Massif, Ganesh Himal Massif, Number Range, Annapurna Massif, Rolwaling Massif, Jugal Massif, and Mahalangur Massif are some Himalayan ranges we can see from here.
Chandragiri Day Hiking is an excellent short hike on the outskirt of Kathmandu valley. Chandragiri Day Hiking starts after an early morning breakfast followed by a short drive to Matathirtha. We generally start to walk at 9 am. Our guide picks you from the hotel. Enjoy the mesmerizing sceneries, learn the local cultures and listen to anecdotes from the guide. For religious travelers, there are several temples and gumbas including Champa Devi Temple and Bhaleshower temple.
The Chandragiri Day Hiking passes through a small Tamang and Newar settlements providing us immense opportunities to explore the local lifestyle, farmers working on fields, grazing animals and local winemaking process. The trail is well marked and surrounded by lush forests. After walking for around three hours, we will reach Chaap Bhanjyang where we will stop for a short tea break. From here it will barely take us two hours to reach Chandragiri. Nepal Trekking Path conducts the Chandragiri day hiking regularly, however, you should inform us one day before trip departure.
