Merely 10 minutes away from Thamel, Basantapur Durbar Square is set in the middle of the city. The grand plaza reflects the best of Newari architect and craft. The beautifully carved exterior of ancient temples, magnificent palaces, historic courtyards, and Newari-styled houses enchant the visitors. The plaza is encircled by the local vendors selling almost everything from Nepali handicrafts to imported luxury items. Stroll around the plaza, take pictures then head to our next destination, Swayambhunath.
Swayambhunath:
Swayambhunath overlooks the Kathmandu city from its hill throne. The oldest plaza stands testimony to Nepali architectures and Buddhist belief. Check out the beautiful ponds, monkey stunts, statues, sculptures, vantage points, temples, shrines and magnificent stupa. Witness or be part of the daily rituals performed by monks. Delve into the peace, learn the history and new culture before driving to Pashupatinath.
Pashupatinath:
The ancient and sacred temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, Pashupatinath is one of the largest temples in Nepal and holds great significance among the Hindus throughout the world. It is home to ancient temples, shrines, monuments, and sculptures. The massive plaza gives a strange sense of peace and serenity. The plaza attracts millions of devotees every year. Festivals like Shivaratri and Teej is celebrated with great enthusiasm every year.
Bouddhanath:
The sacred and ancient stupa is set in the outskirt of the capital city. The beautiful plaza in the middle of the busy market attracts hundreds of tourist every day. The plaza is decorated with prayer wheels, prayer flags, shrines, temples, monuments, and stupa. Stroll around the plaza, have lunch then head back to your hotel.
In the evening, get out to check out the colorful market, experience Kathmandu’s vibrant nightlife, mingle with locals and encounter with fellow travelers from all around the globe. Enjoy the Nepali cuisine then take a rest in the cozy hotel room.
