Frequently asked questions (FAQS) is designed to answer the most common questions of the trekkers/travelers. Please go through the article if you have any queries regarding the trekking in Nepal. If you are still unclear about something, you may contact us.

  1. How to apply for a visa?

You can get a visa on arrival. After arriving in the airport, you must fill the visa application form and attach one passport-size photo. Pay the visa fee. You may apply for a visa in advance as well.

  1. Visa cost to visit Nepal?

15 days cost $25

30 days cost $40

90 days cost $100

Extending the visa is quite easy. You can pay an additional $30 to extend the visa for 15 days and per day $2 after that.

  1. Is airport pickup and drop facility provided?

Yes, Nepal Trekking Path representatives will pick you from the international airport on your arrival and drop you to the international airport on your departure.

  1. Where to store my belongings while heading for trekking?

You can store your belonging either at your hotel or our office.

  1. Will you assign someone whom we can contact while staying in Nepal?

Yes, one of our team members will take care of you while you stay in Nepal. You can contact him whenever you want.

  1. Is there any age limit for trekking?

More than age it depends on your physical fitness and location. Some trekking is easy which can be undertaken by anyone easily whereas some demands a high level of strength and physical fitness.

  1. Should I have trekking experience beforehand?

No, you don’t need to have any kind of trekking experience, if you are in good health, it’s enough. However, ascending some peak without prior experience can be very challenging.

So, it’s advisable to undertake some kind of exercise like jogging before embarking into the trip.

  1. What kind of meal options we will have and how it is served?

We serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meal, let us know if you have any food allergy. However, since we will be hiking in the high mountains, it won’t be possible to serve everything you want i.e. special meals. You will get to eat freshly cooked meals using local ingredients. You will be served  3 meals a day in full-board.

  1. Will I get a separate room while trekking?

Yes, in offseason but not possible in peak times (October to December and March and May )

  1. Best season for trekking?

Depending upon the trekking areas, you can trek throughout the year in Nepal, however, September , to November , March  to  may are an ideal time to trek.

  1. How difficult is the trek?

Depending on the location, it’s both difficult and easy. We have categorized trek into five grades: easy, moderate, difficult, strenuous trek and challenging.

Grade 1: Easy Trek: Anyone in good health can undertake this trek. You will hike for 4 to 5 hours per day on the flat land. The trail may contain few ups and downs. The duration of the trek is very short and are undertaken into the lower altitude.

Grade 2: Moderate Trek: If you are trekking for the first time, you might find this trek bit challenging. However, if you exercise regularly or resides in the hillsides, it’s a cake walk for you. This type of trek is undertaken at an altitude of 2500m to 4000m and the trail passes through uphill, downhills, and beautiful mountainous forest.

Grade 3: Strenuous Trek: The Third grade of trek expose you to the fair amount of difficulties and demand extreme fitness. Most of the trek undertaken in Nepal is a third-grade trek. This type of trek is undertaken at an altitude of 4000m to 5500m. The route contains lots of ups and downs and glaciers. You will see the dramatic landscape and unique culture at that altitude.

Grade 4: Strenuous Trek: Your previous experience can come handy in this trek. The trek is undertaken above the altitude of 5550m. The trail passes through rocky terrain, steep hills, and wilderness. Mountaineering and rope climbing skills will help you a lot. If you are looking for adventure, this is the best option for you.

Grade 5: Challenging Trek: The trek over 6100m is considered a challenging trek. The duration of the trek is around 28 to 30 days. Trekkers need extreme mental and physical stamina.

  1. What about trekking permit?

Trekking in some locations requires special permission it will be taken care of by our officers. While other places only require TIMS Card only.

  1. Duration of Trek?

The trek generally lasts for 2 to 4 weeks and have to walk for 4 to 7 hours in average every day.

  1. What about drinking water

Drinking tap water is not safe. So, either drink bottled water or purified water using tablets or boiled water.

  1. Is it safe to travel for women?

Safety is the first thing we focus on be it men or women. You are in a safe hand. Our guides always keep eye on you just to ensure you are doing fine

  1. Is WiFi available during the trek?

Yes, in a few places.

  1. Do I need special training for trekking?

No, you don’t need any kind of training to trek in Nepal.

  1. What kind of problem we may face at high altitude?

Suffering from altitude sickness is very common in high altitude. You may feel the lack of oxygen.

  1. What are the symptoms of altitude sickness?

The lack of oxygen and air pressure in the high altitude causes altitude sickness. The major symptoms of altitude sickness are dizziness, headache, nausea, headache, difficulty to breath, increased heart rate, loss of sleep and appetite.

  1. Is it safe to visit Nepal?

Yes, Nepal is safe to visit. The crime rate is very low and there is no political instability. For detail read (provide a link)

  1. Can you give detail about the guide?

We hire Nepali guide who is fluent in English language and knows other languages too. They are native of the mountain region, selected on the basis of experience, expertise, passion, knowledge and leadership skills. They have deep knowledge about the flora, fauna, culture, mountains, ecosystem, geography. They are trained in first aid, rock climbing, mountaineering, ice climbing, eco trekking workshop.

  1. Can I get insurance in Nepal Trekking Path ?

No, Nepal trekking Path does not sell or arrange insurance. You must buy insurance before embarking into the trip to make your vacation stress free.

  1. What equipment should I bring / what you provide?

You will have to bring trekking shoes, climbing equipment, and personal equipment. Sleeping bags, down jackets, tents, mattresses, kitchen equipment depending on the trekking style are provided by Nepal Trekking Path . Please check the equipment list for detail.

  1. What about the hygiene standard?

Drink boiled or purified water. Our guide maintained a high standard of hygiene while cooking food and knows what kind of food and services our guest prefers, and guide inspect the quality of food in tea houses.

  1. Tell me about the ATM facilities in Nepal? What kind of card is accepted?

VISA, Mastercardare widely used in Nepal. Both debit and credit card are accepted. You can easily find ATM booth in urban areas but very few are set in the remote villages.

  1. Can I carry my medication with me?

Yes, carry prescription and medicine in its original containers to avoid any hassle at the airport.

  1. Do I need a walking stick?

If you prefer, you can bring one.

  1. Do I need to bring any documents on tour?

Bring passport,travel insurance and a copy of a ticket. Submit the online visa form and print out a copy. However, Indian can visit Nepal with election card or government approved ID card.

  1. Do you provide trekking map?

Yes, it’s important to carry map while on the trek. You need to have information about areas, location, height. It’s very important if you are hiking alone in remote areas without porter, guides. We provide it.

  1. Can you tailor trekking trip according to my need?

Yes, as much as we can, we will try to modify the itinerary to meet your need. However, not everything can be altered.

  1. What is the tea-house trek?

Spending the night at a tea house at the end of the day is known as tea house trek.

  1. Weather during the trek?

Since the weather in the mountains is a bit dramatic and keeps on fluctuating, you should always be ready/prepared for sudden changes.
