Khair Ridge Trek is a short trek packed with some of the hypnotic vistas in the Annapurna Region. The newly discovered trekking route has been sculpted along the Annapurna circuit that makes its way through wide untamed valleys in the midst of soaring alps. Walk past the ancient villages dominated by Magar and Gurungs following the ancestral tradition tracing back to the centuries. Discover the lifestyle you have never seen before, taste the untasted food and spend a blissful night in the silence of the wilderness.

Undoubtedly trekking in Annapurna region is a scenic treat as it’s route passes through diverse and breathtaking landscapes, however, the most stunning section can be found along the Pun Hill and Kopra Ridge. The views of soaring Alps above and glacial valley below is so captivating; we cannot help but stare in awe. The beauty of this part of the trek is enhanced by the glacial lakes reflecting the vicious mountains. Tread past the alpine forests housing colorful birds, trees and wild lives, hike on the meadows speckled with wildflowers and enjoy the dramatic views from the ridge of hills.

Though Annapurna region has been popular among the trekker since decades and trails are quite busy, Khair Ridge Trek offers the calm trek as it splits its way from the busy route of Annapurna to the tranquil valley. As we will spend nights in the historic tea houses, get acquainted with the local culture and tradition.

Day 1
Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu:

Nepal Trekking Path airport representative will transfer you to your hotel from the airport. If you arrive early, stroll around the local market and get a glimpse of urban life in Nepal. In the evening visit our office. We will introduce you to your guide and discuss the tour. Return to your hotel, have dinner and take rest.

Day 2
Day 02: Kathmandu valley Sightseeing :

Nepal tour is incomplete without visiting the alleys, courtyards and historical and cultural heritage of the city of the temple, Kathmandu. So, today we will explore some of the major cultural heritage listed in the UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site.

We will start the tour by visiting Basantapur Durbar Square, an ancient palace of Rana and Shah dynasty. Embellished by antique houses, temples, bells, and status, the place is replete with people all the time. The plaza is surrounded by vendors selling all most everything from handicrafts to souvenirs and home appliances.

Swayambhunath: The plaza looks stunning from the outside and from inside it’s more mesmerizing with shrines, temples, halls, and monuments. The place offers a strange sense of serenity. Ending the Swayambhunath tour, we will head to Pashupatinath.

Pashupatinath: Pashupatinath outshines everything else in Kathmandu. It is magnificent, majestic and tranquil. The architectural masterpieces with amazingly carved exteriors of temples and stone sculpture have a great religious significance. Every evening ‘Sajh Aarati’ is done which draws a large number of devotees.

Buddhanath: The elaborated paintings, a statue of Buddha, temples, enormous prayer wheels and the largest stupa in the world, Bouddhanath has a lot to offer. While performing the kora on the clockwise direction, we will witness a number of vendors selling Nepali and Tibetan handicrafts, thankas and much more. The plaza is surrounded by a number of restaurants, we will have lunch then head back to the hotel.

Day 3
Day 03: Drive to Pokhara 950 m – 06 hrs:

Explore rustic life outside the valley in the six hours ride to Pokhara. Just around an hour drive from Thamel will take us out of the dusty and noisy city. Drive on the scenic road decorated with beautiful hills, villages, terraced farms, serpentine streams, and rivers. During the break, enjoy the vistas of sky-piercing mountains, green valleys, and peaceful ambiance. We will reach Pokhara by 3 o’clock so after refreshing we will head out to explore the beauty of this calm city sitting on the lap of majestic mountains. The beauty of Pokhara is indescribable in words. Be it still lake or cascading waterfall, peaceful temples or thrilling caves and soaring mountains, Pokhara has everything to offer. Along with natural wonders, it also houses varieties of high-end restaurants and clubs. Spend a night at a cozy hotel.

Day 4
Day 04: Drive to Nayapul 1,100 m and trek to Tirkhedhuga 1,450 m:

The first day or our most-awaited trek start with a short, scenic drive from Pokhara to Nayapul. After driving to Nayapul we will have to trek for few hours so, wake up early, have breakfast and get ready. Around one and a half hours drive passes through beautiful small villages and fields with vistas of snowy peaks on the backdrop. Our trailhead Nayapul is a tiny town with a few modern houses alongside a small river. A brief rest is followed by a hike on the paved staircase for around five hours. The trail meanders through beautiful villages, streams, and fields. Have a local meal and spend the night in a historic teahouse.

Day 5
Day 05: Trek From Tirkhedhunga to Ghorepani 2,874 m – 06 hrs:

The second day of the trek is a bit difficult as we will tread on the rocky uneven staircase for hours and hours. Just after twenty minutes of the hike, we will reach the foothill of the staircase. Crossing the beautiful hilly villages with the soaring mountains on the backdrop, we will reach Ulleri in around three hours. Leaving the Ulleri behind and following the trail passing through the lush forest, crossing few cemented bridges over streams, we will arrive Ghorepani. The beautiful village offers an amazing view of the green valley below. After having a local dinner, we will take rest.

Day 6
Day 06: Morning hike to Pun-Hill trek to Sauta 2,200 m – 04 hrs:

Today is a big day. We will wake up early in the morning and embark into today’s journey before the dawn. The forty-five minutes hike passes through colorful rhododendron forest. Our major source of light will be torchlight and moonlight. The uphill trail offers an amazing view of twinkling stars and calm ambiance. Pun-hill is a vantage point with vistas of majestic alps including Mt. Annapurna, Lamjung, Manaslu, Lamjung, Hiunchuli, Nilgiri, Machhapuchare, Dhampus Peak, Tukuche Peak, and Mt. Dhaulagiri. Submerge into the peace and beauty of this heavenly place, snap pictures then head back to Ghorepani for breakfast. From Ghorepani, we will follow the trail passing through the rhododendron forest until we reach Chitre then we will divert from the main route to the isolated trail leading to a historic village named Sauta.

Day 7
Day 07: Trek From Sauta to Chistibung 3,000 m -05 hrs:

A savory breakfast fuel us for today’s trek. We will begin the trek with a gradual hike on the rough route leading through sparsely villages and farm fields. The trail winds north passing through lush forests. A gradual climb on the uphill into the sparsely populated forest lead to the ridge. Walk on the scenic trail decorated with small streams and meadows for few hours to reach Chistibung. The ancient village houses small huts and few tea houses. After freshening up, we will head out to explore this beautiful village on the lap of green valley.

Day 8
Day 08: Trek From Chistibung to Khair or Kopra Ridge 3,870 m – 03 hrs:

Today we will walk for only around three hours but the trek won’t be easy as we will be climbing uphill entire morning. As we move forward leaving Chistibung behind, we will witness the change in the landscape, trees are replaced by small bushes. If we are lucky enough, we will come across several wildlives and pheasants. Khair offers an amazing view of snow-capped mountains above and breathtaking green landscapes below. Since we will reach Khair by 12 pm or early, we will be left with plenty of time to discover this isolated settlement.

Day 9
Day 09: At Kopra Ridge for an Optional Excursion to Holy Khair Lake:

Today, we will navigate the trail of the highest point of this trek. After an early morning breakfast, we will embark to explore the holy lake in Khair named Khair Lake set at an elevation of 4,247 meters. Hiking to this beautiful lake is not an easy task but totally worthy. In the month of August, the place is replete with devotees to offer prayers and pooja to Lord Shiva. Head back to Kopra for an overnight stay.

Day 10
Day 10: Trek From Kopra Ridge to Dobato 3,420 m – 05 hrs:

Walk on the hill in the initial hours then descend through yak pastures and colorful forests. Upon reaching Kopra, we will descend and hike on the trail dotted with trees leading to Dobato. From Dobato, we will have an amazing view of Mt. Machapuchare and Annapurna South.

Day 11
Day 11: Trek From Dobato to Ghandruk 1, 951 m – 05 hours:

It’s time to leave this heavenly village behind. We will start our hike on the downhill trail passing through the colorful rhododendron forest leading to the Tadapani village. After spending a few moments taking rest and snapping pictures, we will tread on the downhill for few hours to reach Ghandruk. The beautiful village is dominated by gurungs so we will get the opportunity to witness their culture, lifestyle and taste the ethnic food. Spend a night at a historic teahouse.

Day 12
Day 12: Trek From Ghandruk to Tolka 1,630 m – 04 hrs:

The 12th day of trek starts with a gradual descent on the trail piercing the beautiful alpine woodland. As we hike forward, we will come across a few tea houses. This section of trek follows the route moving up and down to the Modi River. Walk alongside this raging river before crossing it and treading on the uphill to Landruk. Most of the trekkers take rest in Landruk village however we will hike a bit more besides the terraced farm, and climb uphill to reach Tolka. On the way, we will be accompanied by several mountains including Huinchui and Annapurna South.

Day 13
Day 13: Trek From Tolka to Kande 1,460 m and Drive to Pokhara:

Enjoy the opportunity of having breakfast in the midst of sparkling mountains before heading to Kande. Start with an easy walk for around an hour then climb the hill leading to Deurali. The forty-five minutes climb will certainly leave us tired but not bored as we will get a glimpse of Mt. Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. From Deurali, we will descend through sparsely populated forest to Potana offering a spectacular view of Mt. Manaslu, Annapurna and Machhapuchhre. March for around an hour to Thulo Kharka then descend down to Kande. It marks the end of our trek. From here, we will catch a bus to Pokhara. If we reach Pokhara early, we may go our for sightseeing as it has some of the most amazing natural wonders on display.

Day 14
Day 14: Drive back to Kathmandu:

It’s time to head back to Kathmandu. Wake up early in the morning, have breakfast then get ready to drive back to Kathmandu. It will be a 6 to 7 hours drive and we will take numerous short breaks in between. However, if you are not willing to drive, you may fly back. It will merely take you an hour to arrive in Kathmandu by flight. Spend the remaining day as per your wish. You may go for souvenir shopping in Thamel or take rest at your hotel.

Day 15
Day 15: International Departure Homeward Bound:

Today, your Nepal tour comes to an end. Pack your belongings and so the last minutes shopping before being transferred to the Tribhuvan International Airport. We hope to serve you again in the future. Thank you.
