Overview

Annapurna Base Camp trek is a fourteen-day tour package that takes you into the diverse and adventurous voyage encompassing sheer mountains wilderness of Annapurna region. The route is carved through the captivating alpine meadows, rocky terrain, lush forests and steep cliffs with snow-capped mountains and glaciers on the backdrop. The trail skirts some of the captivating mountains including Machhapuchhre, Himchuli, Gangapurna, Annapurna I, II and III.

The natural wonders it has on display will keep our spirit high; colorful forest, raging rivers, lush valleys, and grassy meadows and the opportunity to explore the lifestyle of local people is a icing on the cake. We wander through beautiful ethnic villages and admire their culture, custom, and tradition. Thakalis, Labas, Ghales, Gurungs and Brahmin people reside here. The major occupation is agriculture. On our way to ABC, we might spot Monals, Griffons, Blue Sheep, Musk Deer, and snow leopard. Explore varieties of faunas.

The trek begins with a short scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, a tourist hub. Pokhara is a beautiful city housing numerous natural wonders from idyllic lakes to mesmerizing waterfalls, adventurous caves and ancient temples. Soaring mountains on the backdrop elevate the beauty of this place to next level. The adventure starts the next day with a short drive to Nayapul followed by trek to Tikhedhunga. As soon as we put our steps on this trail, sparkling mountains starts to reveal itself. Walking through beautiful villages and grassy meadows, we head to Ghorepani then to Poon-hill to soak in the epic vistas of the sun rising and scattering its golden rays over the gleaming mountains. Treading to the north, we will reach Tadapani then Sinuwa and Deurali. From Deurali, it will take us around four hours to reach our ultimate destination Annapurna Base Camp. With the feeling of accomplishment, we will retrace our trail to Nayapul through Bamboo and Jhinu dada,  then drive to Kathmandu.

How much the ABC trek cost?

The standard price of ABC trek is USD….. There are lots of factors that influence the cost of the trek including a size of group, season and trek package. What is the Annapurna base camp trek itinerary?

The fourteen days Nepal tour will take us into the wilderness of Annapurna region and the historical sites, cultural sites, alleys and courtyards of Kathmandu. The trek technically starts on the fourth day of the tour after a short drive to Nayapul via Pokhara followed by a short hike to Tikhedhunga. The trek will take us to Poon-hill, popular for sunrise view via Ghorepani. We won’t just get the opportunity to soak into the beauty of mystical Himalayas but also dip in the natural hot spring.

In Kathmandu, you will stay in the 3-star hotel located on the heart of Kathmandu, Thamel. During the trek, you will spend nights in local tea-houses/lodges with basic facilities. We will provide you three meals per day during trek and breakfast in Kathmandu.

ABC trek duration, route, and distance?

The nine days trek (typical walking days) takes us into the mystical villages, lush valleys, colorful forests, and natural hot spring. The trail is sculpted through high Himalayans housing small yet major settlements like Tikhedhunga, Ghorepani, Tadapani, Sinuwa, Deurali, Bamboo and Jhinu Dada. The round trip is around 140 Km (from Nayapul to Nayapul).

Day 1
Day 01: Arrival: Upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu

you will be greeted and transferred by a private car or tourist vehicle to your hotel in Thamel. The tourist hub, Thamel is always bustling with people mostly foreigners. Depending on the time of arrival, we can explore the market. Our guide will give a short briefing about the Annapurna base camp trek trek. Overnight stay at a star hotel.

Day 2
Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu: Today we will explore the city.

Post breakfast, our culture guide will pick you from your hotel. A short drive will take you to the major cultural hub in the city, Basantapur Durbar Square. Set on the heart of the city, it’s difficult for anyone not to fall in love with the captivating architectures and designs. Ancient temples with finely carved exteriors, houses from seventeenth century and palaces and courtyards build from 12th to 18th centuries are a major attraction. Gaddi Baithak, Vimaleshwar temple, Kumari Ghar, Trailokya Mohan Narayan Temple, Basantapur Durbar, Swet Bhairav, Kaal Bhairav, Big Drums, Divya Ganta enhanced the beauty of this place. There are vendors selling handicrafts, food and other home appliances in the surrounding.
Our next destination is Swayambhunath. Swayambhunath is an ancient plaza standing testament to the ancient culture and architecture with temples, courtyard, shrines, and statues. Buddha Akshobya, Shri Kama Raja Maha Vihara Monastery, Malla Tower, Dorje, Museum, Drukpa Kagyu Monastery, Shantipura building, and Hariti Shrine are some of the major attraction of this place. After spending some time witnessing the bustling Kathmandu city from the top and strolling around the plaza, we will head to Pashupatinath.
Pashupatinath, a fascinating destination is around one hour away from Swayambhunath. The place is filled with pagoda-style temples, chaityas, statues, and shrine. The place carries great significance to Hindus and the major festival celebrated in this temple are Teej and Shiva Ratri. Nestled on the bank of holy river Bagmati, the place offers mesmerizing views and peace. Funerals are performed here. From here we will head to Boudhanath.
Boudhanath is a twenty minutes drive from Pashupatinath. Located away from the busy city, the place is another major tourist attraction in Nepal. Situated on the outskirt of Kathmandu, the complex has shrines, temples, prayers wheels, and stupas. In and around the plaza, we can see a number of vendors selling various things from handicrafts to clothes, jewelry, carpets. The place has a number of restaurants featuring local, national and continental cuisine. After a delicious lunch, we will drive you back to your hotel. It’s time to prepare for the upcoming trek.

Day 3
Day 03: Drive to Pokhara (6 hrs):

): The morning starts with a scenic drive to Pokhara on the Prithvi Highway. The trail winds through the hills alongside raging Trishuli river dotted with several resorts popular for offering various adventures including white water rafting. Driving through the cultural and historical attractions of Manakamana and Gorkha, we finally reach Pokhara in 6 hours. Spend rest of the day strolling around the city and spend the evening enjoying the vista of Fewa Tal. Spend a night at a cozy hotel.

Day 4
Day 04: Drive to Nayapul and Trek to Tikhedhunga:

Today’s drive follows another section of amazing sceneries, alternating between small villages and fields. After one and a half hour drive, we reach Nayapul. Crossing the Modi river and walking for a while we will reach Birethanti. The trail passing through mossy forests, spellbinding waterfalls, ancient villages, meadows, fields with the soaring Himalayan peaks on the backdrop is quite mesmerizing. Treading through Birethanti, Lamdawali, Sudame, and Hile it will take around five hours to reach Tikhedhunga.

Day 5
Day 05: Trek to Ghorepani (6 hours):

Today’s route follows well-maintained stone staircase. Ascend uphill to reach Ulleri village, have lunch there and soak into its beauty before heading to Banthanti. Beautiful mountains on the distance and the mesmerizing sceneries on the surrounding keep us motivated. Upon reaching Ghorepani, we will take rest in a hotel.

Day 6
Day 06: Morning Hike to Poon-Hill and Trek to Tadapani (5 hours):

To witness one of the most beautiful sun rises, we will begin our trek before the dawn. A well-paved trail up the hill leads us to Poon Hill, a small viewpoint nestled at an elevation of 3200m. The view of sun rays scattered on the sparkling mountains is simply breathtaking. Head to Tadapani, after admiring the view and snapping pictures. The trail takes us to the uphill across colorful Rhododendron and pine forest. Piercing the cloud, the trail descends down to the valley alongside memorials and shrines. Walking uphill on the nicely paved staircase and rocky trail, we will reach Tadapani.

Day 7
Day 07: Trek from Tadapani to Sinuwa (7 hours):

The downhill trail passes through small villages and terraced fields. The steps are steep so walking gets a little difficult. Crossing a few bridges, we will ascend uphill for a while before reaching Sinwa. The 6 to 7 hours walk will leave us tired and hungry. After satiating our hunger, we will rest to be ready for another big day.

Day 8
Day 08: Trek from Sinuwa to Deurali via Himalayan (6 to 7 hours):

Today’s trail leads us to steep hill passing through Dovan and Bamboo. The steady climb for around 3 to 4 hours will take us to Himalayan. Spending some time admiring the beauty of the place, have lunch and a brief rest will energize us to head to Deurali. Spend a night at a hotel.

Day 9
Day 09: Trek from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4 hours):

Today is the ‘D’ day. Today we will be summiting the ABC. After an early morning breakfast, we will ascend uphill passing Hinko Cave and Machapuchare Base Camp. Enjoying the view of MBC, we will head to ABC which will take around two hours from here. ABC offers a stunning view of snow-capped Alps.

Day 10
Day 10: Trek From ABC to Bamboo (6 hours):

Descend down the same trail and tread on the back of Modi Khola until we reach Bamboo. The village is sparsely populated and houses few lodges and teahouses. After hiking for six our, we will take rest in a local lodge.

Day 11
Day 11: Trek from Bamboo to Jhinu Dada with hot spring (5 hours):

The same trail we walked on the previous day will lead us to Chomrong. Passing Khuldighar, we arrive at an experimental sheep farm and explore it then head on the trail dotted with bamboo and rhododendron forests. Walking on the steep trail for around five hours we will arrive in Jhinu Dada and take a dip in natural hot springs.

Day 12
Day 12: Trek to Nayapul and Drive to Pokhara (6 hours):

Tread on the bank of Modi Khola for around five hours to Birethanti. It is an easy walk. From Nayapul we will drive to Pokhara. Celebrate the victory in the evening with the crew member.

Day 13
Day 13: Back to Kathmandu and Farewell Dinner:

After accomplishing our most awaited trek, we will head back to Kathmandu. We will begin our journey after a delicious breakfast. The six hours car ride will leave us exhausted so you might take a rest in your hotel room. We will meet for the farewell dinner. Our guide will take you to the finest restaurant serving delicious Nepali cuisine.

Day 14
Day 14: Departure:

Wake up early in the morning, eat breakfast and do the last minutes shopping. It’s important to reach the airport three hours prior to your flight so our guides will pick you accordingly from your hotel then transfer you to the Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward journey. Have a safe flight.

How fit should I be?

If you exercise on the daily basis or can hike at least 15 km per day, you are good to go. Some of the trails are easy and some are difficult. So if you want to enjoy every bit of this trek without any kind of problems, you may start exercising three months before flying for this tour.

Where will I stay and what kind of facilities will I be provided?

We will spend nights in local tea houses and lodges throughout the trek. The facilities provided in these lodges are minimal as they only cater basic service.

What distance will we cover every day?

We will walk around 15 km every day.

How supportive are your guides?

Our guides help you in everything. They will take very good care of you and encourage you in every step. There is nothing to worry. You are in a safe hand.

Can you tell me about the difficulty level of this trek?

Summiting the Annapurna Base Camp Trek won’t be that easy but it’s all worth it. The trails are moderate to adventurous passing through the flatlands and steep hills. You just need a little bit of mental and physical stamina to accomplish this trek.

What about food hygiene?

Your wellbeing is our major concern so we never take your health lightly. Our guides will make sure that you are served hygienic, safe and clean food. Moreover, our guides make sure that the food cooked in tea houses follows the high level of hygiene

What should I carry with me?

Will you provide porters or should I carry my belongings myself?

You have to carry a backpack with sunglasses, a water bottle, sunscreen or other necessary items. Other things will be carried by our porters.

Is it safe to drink tap water?

No, you should never drink water directly from the tap. Instead, you can use medicine to filter the water or drink boiled water.

What kind of health problems I might face in the high altitude?

There are high chances of getting altitude sickness. It’s important to learn the prevention methods and cure. A mild headache due to lack of oxygen and an upset stomach is also normal. However you don’t have to worry much, our guides know how to handle such situations.

Weather in the Himalayan regions keeps fluctuating. Someday it can be very sunny and in the next moment, it might rain or snow. So be prepared for any kind of weather and carry clothes accordingly.

Do you sell travel insurance?

No, we don’t sell travel insurance but it is compulsory to have one. So buy the insurance that covers all most everything including helicopter rescue before embarking into this trek.

Are phone network and internet available?

Since we will be hiking in the remote areas, it’s not possible to find the connection everywhere. But in some of the villages, you might find telephones and internet service.

I am fifteen, can I be the part of this trek?

Yes, you can but since you are not eighteen yet, you should bring your guardians along with you.

Can I embark into this trek alone?

It’s not that you can’t but we don’t suggest you do so. You will be hiking in the high altitude most of the day, so if you suffer from Acute mountain sickness or lost your way, there will be no one to help you and this situation can be fatal. So, it’s wise to hike in a group while you are trekking in higher altitude.
