Mera Peak climbing , set at an elevation of 6,476 meters in the Mahalungur range is the highest trekking peak in Nepal which demands both physical and mental stamina, however, those without any prior trekking experience can also summit the peak easily with good health and willpower. Except for exhausting our self, we will get to glance at six highest mountains in the world including Cho Oyo, Makalu, Lhotse, Kanchenjunga and Mt. Everest, From the top of the Mera Peak.
Everest region trekking has always been the first choice among the hardcore trekkers however Mera Peak Climbing gained the popularity among mountaineers recently. The Mera Peak Climbing features dramatic rocks, steep peaks, green Himalayans, vast meadows, barren & glacial landscapes, and dense forest. The place is ideal for viewing wildlife as it houses some of the rarest animals including snow leopard. The Everest region host charming historic villages with captivating culture and festivals including Mani Rimdu festival.

Himalayan is a magical place to explore; the lower region is covered with colorful wildflowers whereas the upper part is blanketed by snows. We will come across unique cliff formation, rocks and dramatic vistas. Either the view from the top of the mountains or up from the lower region, nothing short of majestic.
Mera Peak Climbing starts on the 3rd day of Nepal peak climbing with a 45 minutes flight to Lukla. For a few days, we will meander on the Dudh Koshi River valley then tread to the upper region. The trek will take us through multiple villages including Chutanga, Chatrabuk, and Khothe.

Day 1
Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu: It is your first day in Nepal.

Meet Nepal Trekking Path representative for the first time. They will drive you to your hotel. If you arrive early, visit our office for the briefing of the trek followed by the introduction with your tour guide. Spend the remaining time strolling around a local market, Thamel. The place hosts innumerable high-end restaurants catering diverse cuisines. Enjoy the delicious food then head back to the hotel for rest.

Day 2
Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour:

Set off for the Kathmandu sightseeing tour with a knowledgeable cultural guide. Immerse into the spiritual richness of temples, monasteries, and culture. The tour is the best way to witness the captivating attractions: Basantapur Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath and Bouddhanath.

Basantapur Durbar Square: Discover the monuments, architecture, and history of Kathmandu. Stroll around the beautiful courtyard, glorious palaces, visit museums, sculptures, and status. Meet the living goddess in Kumari Ghar. After exploring the place for around an hour, drive to Swayambhunath.

Swayambhunath: Symbol of peace, Swayambhunath sits above the Kathmandu city offering a beautiful view of the city. Explore the plaza decorated with beautiful Buddha statue, shrines, temples, prayer flags, prayer wheels, and ponds. Feel the peace, learn the history and witness the monks offering prayers.

Pashupatinath: After driving for around half an hour from Swayambhunath, we will arrive at another major attraction in Kathmandu, Pashupatinath. Monkeys performing stunts, sound of bell and devotees offering prayers, the experience we gain here is incomparable. Stroll around the plaza, snap pictures and feel the serenity.

Bouddhanath: 15 minutes drive through the busy city will take us to the outskirt of Kathmandu where Bouddhanath is located. A grand plaza hosts the largest stupa in the world, shrines, gumbas, temples, and vendors selling Nepali and Tibetan handicrafts and thankas. The complex is encircled by a number of restaurants offering various kind of cuisines.

Day 3
Day 03: Fly to Lukla 2,800 m Begin a Trek to Chutanga 3,430 m – 04 hrs:

Finally, the much awaited day has arrived. A forty-five minutes flight to Lukla from Kathmandu mark the beginning of our trek. Fly above the majestic mountains, lush hills and deep gorge then join our remaining team member in Lukla for the onward journey. We will spend around an hour in Lukla, enjoying the vistas while sipping a cup of coffee. Depending on the arrival time, we will have our breakfast before trekking to Chutanga. For four hours, we will walk through farmlands, various villages, and meadows. Enjoy the vistas of green hills, pastures housing tiny colorful flowers and ancient landscape throughout the trek. We will call it a day after a delicious dinner.

Day 4
Day 04: Trek From Chutanga to Chatrabuk via Chatra la pass 4,600 m – 06 hrs:

After an early morning breakfast, follow the trail meandering between Khumbu and Hinku Valley. Cross ridge that separates these two valleys. An easy and pleasant walk until we reach the foothill of a steep hill. Walk on the Zatrwa la Pass decorated with colorful prayers flags. Tread on the rocky slope and yak pastures before climbing to Zatrwa La at an elevation of 4,600 meters. Walk to Chatrabuk while enjoying the vista of Dudh Koshi river valley, Lumding Himal and Karyolung. Explore the place, have dinner then take rest.

Day 5
Day 05: Trek From Chatrabuk to Khothe – 04 hrs:

Follow the trail meandering downhill covered with rocks until we reach a viewpoint offering a captivating vista of Hinky valley and Mera Peak. Pass through the forested section winding up and down then walk downhill leading to Hinku valley. As we move forward into the valley, we will be awarded with the vistas of Peak 43 and Kusum Kanguru. March on the trail passing through rhododendron and pine forest to reach Kothe. Overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 6
Day 06: Trek From Kothe to Tagnag 4,360 m – 05 hrs:

Post breakfast, wave goodbye to this peaceful village and head to Tagnag. Walk past the yak pastures then climb uphill leading to the Hinky valley ridge. Throughout the trek, we will be accompanied by the magnificent Mera Peak. Upon reaching Tagnag settle in the hotel, freshen up then head out to explore the hamlet. The temporary settlement hosts few lodges and tea houses.

Day 7
Day 07: Rest day at Tagnag for acclimatization:

We will spend the seventh day of the trek by taking rest and embarking into short hikes. Start with an early morning breakfast then hike to the cairn at an elevation of 5000 meters. After returning back to Tangnag, we will wander around a shimmering lake, Sabal Tsho. The beautiful lake is set behind the Sabal Glacier. If you wish, we may go to explore Hunkuu Nup Glacier. After spending a beautiful day in this heavenly settlement, we will take rest to prepare for next day trek.

Day 8
Day 08: Trek From Tagnag to Khare 5,000 m – 05 hrs:

Leaving Tagnag behind, walk for few hours enjoying the stunning view of Hinku valley. An easy climb for around an hour will take us to a beautiful lake called Charpatti Tal. Gradually climb on the grassy meadows then descend until we reach Dig Kharka. Walk on the boulder-strewn uphill leading to Khare. We will reach Khare by noon, thus we will be left with plenty of time to train for climbing the peak. Our guide will teach us how to use crampons and ropes. After that, we will explore Khare. Spend a peaceful night amid the wilderness of Everest region.

Day 9
Day 09: Trek From Khare to Mera Base Camp at Tent Camp 5, 300 m / 17,384 ft – 04 hrs:

Today we will be walking for only four hours but it’s going to be a tiring day as we tread on the uphill blanked by rocks and glacier. Pass Mera Glacier then walk past the glaciers and ice. We will descend until we reach Mera Base Camp. Upon reaching the base camp, we will wander around, check out the amazing vistas then set our camp. Sleeping in the camp under the twinkling star has its own perk.

Day 10
Day 10: Climb to Mera Peak summit at 6,461 m / 21, 1907 ft – 08 hrs:

Today is the ‘D’ day. We will start the day early as we will be walking long hours. Tread to the High camp through Mera La. Walk for around four hours to reach High camp.

After taking a brief break, we will begin our journey to Mera Peak. Start by treading on the steep hill using the fixed rope. It’s very important to be careful while ascending this hill, so be extra cautious. Our hard work will be rewarded by the captivating vistas of some of the world’s highest mountains including Mt. Everest and the glacial valley. Enjoy the vistas, delve into its beauty then retrace our steps to base camp.

Day 11
Day 11: Reserve Day in Case of Unfavorable Weather Condition:

Not everything goes as per plan every time at the high altitude because of unpredictable weather and other problems. So, it’s wise to be prepared from the beginning. Thus, we have reserved one day to tackle with unforeseen issues if arises. If everything goes as per plan, we will return to Lukla one day earlier than the actual itinerary.

Day 12
Day 12: Trek From Mera Base Camp to Khothey 3,600 m -06 hrs:

After experiencing one of the most beautiful moments of our lives, we will retrace our steps back to the trailhead, starting with Khothey. Today, we will head back to Khothey and take rest. We will walk for around six hours through rocky moraines, meadows, villages, and streams.

Day 13
Day 13: Trek From Khothey to Chatrabuk 4,200 m – 06 hrs:

Fuel in the early morning breakfast then march to Chatrabuk. Cross the forested section enjoying the view of colorful trees and pheasants. Walk past yak pastures and meadows. Meander ups and downs for few times until we reach Chatrabuk .

Day 14
Day 14: Trek From Chatrabuk to Lukla – 07 hrs:

The last day of the trek begin with a brief climb over the Himal ridges. Walk past the boulders to reach Zatrwa og then Zatrwa La. Meanders up and down on the hills covered by green vegetation. Descend a long downhill while enjoying the vistas of beautiful mountain ranges on the distance to reach Lukla. We will spend our evening sharing our experiences with our team members and bid goodbye to our porters.

Day 15
Day 15: Fly to Kathmandu and Transfer to Hotel:

Take an early morning flight to Kathmandu. We will be in the capital city within 45 minutes. Head to your hotel and take rest. If you desire, you may check out the local market. Make the best out of your last evening in Nepal.

Day 16
Day 16: International Departure for Homeward Bound:

It’s time to wave goodbye to the lovely Himalayan country. With unforgettable memories and experience, today you will head back to your homeland. As per your flight schedule, our airport representative will escort you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your final departure. If you have time, you may go for souvenir shopping before heading to the airport.
