Tamang Heritage Trekking recently opened for the outsiders, lies in North of Kathmandu Valley, making it ideal for those with a time constraint yet willing to explore the untouched, rustiest and culturally diverse villages of Nepal. The culturally rich trail is dominated by Tamang people. Close to the Tibetan border, we can see a great influence of Tibetan culture in the villages. Experience the exceptional hospitality while exploring some of the ancient monasteries and villages. People residing in this region are some of the most humble, welcoming, warm and smiling people.

The twelve day trek is a great way to explore the unique culture of the Tamang community and unspoiled landscape of Langtang region. Also get the opportunity to explore the Tibetan history and the influence of the Tibetan culture in this area. People residing in this area highly dependent on agriculture and husbandry for their livelihood. They grow hard crops. Get the opportunity to witness Mane, Subaru local dances at several villages set near the border between Nepal and Tibet. Buddhism is a major religion. People living in this region wear colorful costumes and the exterior of their home are decorated with amazing woodcarvings.

It’s a perfect blend of cultural trek and adventure. The off-the-beaten-track features panoramic scenery and natural hot springs and trekking route stretches amid Langtang and Ganesh Himal. The experience will be elevated with the opportunity to spot wild lives like red panda, bears and snow leopards. The trail passes through the terraced fields, hypnotic villages, peaceful valley, prolific forest, towering peaks and suspension bridge with the soaring mountains in the background.

The adventure begins with a scenic 6 to 7 hours drive to Syabru Bensi on the serpentine road. Soaring mountains welcome us as we reach Syabru Bensi. Leaving the lovely town behind, we will embark into our trek next day following the trail passing through the Lama Hotel, Langtang village, Chorkari Ri, Kyanjin Gompa Thulo Sybru Village, Cholangpati, Gosaikunda, Lauribina pass, and Dhunche

What is the Tamang Heritage trek cost?

The standard rate of the trek is USD…. Nepal trekking Path has allocated the trek cost after careful analysis so that we could provide you with the best service at a competitive price. The cost of the Langtang trek depends upon the various factors including duration of trek, accommodation, trekking trail, size of group and season. The standard price includes trek permits, TIMS card, accommodation, meals, transportation, guides & porter wages etc.

What is the trek itinerary?

The 13 day’s trip takes you into the heart of Langtang valley providing you ample opportunity to understand the local culture and lifestyle. The trek starts two days after commencing the trip. On the third day, you will hike to Lama Hotel from Syabru Bensi. Most part of the trek passes through the beautiful forest housing several rare flora, fauna and birds. The trail is easy with few uphill climb. Explore ancient monasteries, glance at the majestic mountains, and delve into the mesmerizing beauty of the place.

Trek route, distance, and duration?

13 day’s trip include 8 days of the trek in the Langtang region. The route passes through some of the major spots including Syabrubesi, Lama Hotel, Langtang village, Chorkari Ri, Kyanjin Gompa, Sybru Village, Cholangpati, Gosaikunda, Lauribina pass and Dhunche.

Day 1
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu airport (1,345 meters):

Nepal Trekking Path’s airport representative will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. Take rest for a while then stroll around the local market. If you have to buy any trekking gear, you may do so. Our guide will provide brief detail about the trek.

Day 2
Day 02: Kathmandu to Syabru Bensi (1462 m/ 4795ft) (6:30 hours):

Have breakfast; pack your back before our guides pick you from your hotel. Leaving the hustle bustle of the city behind, we will drive on a smooth serpentine road alongside Trishuli river. We will have enough time to rest and snap pictures. 6 to 7 hours drive will take us to Syabru Bensi. The place boasts a view of Ganesh Himal and Langtang Lirung. Enjoy the view, have delicious dinner and take rest at a cozy hotel.

Day 3
Day 3: Trek From Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2,510 m/8,232 ft):

Start our day with a delicious breakfast. On the first day of the trek, we will cover 11.3 kilometers. We will walk through Bhote Koshi and follow the path alongside Langtang Khola. The trail first takes us to the checkpoint where our TIMS card will be checked. Moving forward, we will come across a small suspension bridge leading to the steep hill. A short walk from here takes us to Wanga village where we can see the remnants of old houses. Following the newly paved trail for an hour we will reach Kangjim. A gradual climb for around two hours will lead us to a small pass at an elevation of 2725 meters. The trail enters the pine forest and passes through the ridge leading to Sherpagon. We might get a chance to spot some of the rare animals while hiking towards Reimche, a small settlement, set on the bank of a beautiful river. Follow the trail until we reach Lama Hotel.

Day 4
Day 4: Trek From Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3307 m/10846 ft):

The trek begins with a gentle climb. After walking for around an hour, we will reach Riverside. The place has two tea houses. Leaving this hamlet behind, we will head to Ghodatabela. From here the canyon widens up offering the majestic vistas of Langtang Lirung. Soak up the beauty of this small village then head to Thyangsyabe climbing up for around an hour. The beautiful village was hit hard by the 2015 earthquake, however, it is being renovated. Have lunch before continuing our trek. Walk on the easy trail for around an hour and cross a beautiful suspension passing through small settlements before arriving at Langtang Village. The village houses numerous tea houses and a cheese factory.

Day 5
Day 5: Trek From Langtang village to Chorkari Ri (5050 m/ 16564 ft) and Back to Kyanjin Gompa:

After spending a beautiful night in an ancient village, today we will head to our next destination, Kyanjin. We will start by walking on the relatively easy trail leading to a small hamlet, Mundu. The village is barely half an hour away from Langtang village. Marching on the same trail for next hour, we will arrive in another village Sindum. We will stop here for lunch before heading to Kyanjin gompa. The place houses an ancient monastery and a cheese factory. We will explore these places before climbing Chorkari Ri. The place offers a beautiful view of Langtang valley and soaring Himalayan ranges. We will head back to Kyanjin Gompa where we will be spending the night.

Day 6
Day 6: Trek From Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel(2510 meters/8232 ft):

Though we will walk 14.5 kilometers today, it won’t be that tiring as the trail is flat. We will descend down for most of the day. Hike beside Langtang Khola and cross several villages including Mundu, Langtang village, Ghode Tabela. We will walk through beautiful forests with a view of sparkling peaks on the distance. Upon reaching the Lama Hotel, stroll around the place, chill in the calm ambiance and take rest.

Day 7
Day 7: Trek From Lama Hotel to Thulo Sybru Village (2210 meters/7248 ft):

The trek begins with a mild downhill hike to a landslide. On the way, we might spot a number of wild animals including monkeys and Red Pandas. We will have to climb a steep hill leading to Thulo Sybru Village. From Thulo Sybru village, we can see Langtang Himal and Ganesh Himal and a green valley below. It’s barely a five-hour walk so we will be left with plenty of time to explore the village before calling it a day.

Day 8
8: Trek From Sybru Village to Cholangpati (3860 meters/11688 ft):

A steep trail leads to Phorang Danda. Walking on the scenic trail featuring some of the most beautiful Himalayans in the country and hiking on the trail piercing the lush forests housing colorful trees, we will reach Sing gompa where we will stop for lunch. Explore the beautiful village housing a cheese factory and an ancient monastery before continuing our journey to Cholangpati.

Day 9
Day 9: Visit Gosaikunda and Lauribina pass and Trek down to Cholangpati (3680 meters):

Start the trek by navigating the trail to Laurebina Yak offering spectacular views of soaring Himalayan ranges. Follow the rocky trail until we get a clear view of Gosaikunda. As we head up, the trees start to fade and the trail will be dotted by small plants. Upon reaching the holy Gosaikunda, relish the vistas of shimmering lakes, offer prayers in the temple, snap pictures. Enjoy the wonders the place offers before heading back to Cholangpati.

Day 10
Day 10: Trek down to Dhunche:

We start the last day of the trek by descending on the steep trail for few hours. We will cross Sing gompa and walk on the more steep downhill passing through several villages. On the military camp, our permit will be checked. Explore the Dhunche before dinner.

Day 11
Day 11: Drive to Kathmandu by bus and farewell dinner:

Concluding the most anticipated trek we will drive back to Kathmandu in the tourist bus. As we head to smooth road leaving the dusty road behind, we will be mesmerized by the natural wonder the trail has on display. Green valleys, nomadic villages, ancient settlements, raging rivers, and streams make the ride less hectic.

Day 12
Day 12: International Departure Homeward Bound:

It’s time to bid goodbye to Nepal. After breakfast, our airport representative will drive you to the Tribhuvan International Airport. It was a pleasure serving you. We hope to see you again in the future. Have a safe flight .

- How comfortable will the trip be?

We will accommodate you in 3-star hotel in Kathmandu, and tea houses and lodges with basic amenities. Our porter will carry your gears and the cooked meal will be served. Our staff will take a complete care of your day to day need.

- What is included in our trip?

- Can I organize my group?

Yes, but there should be at least … member in your group. If you have a larger group, you may buy the tour and trek package at less price. In such cases, we tailor the itinerary as per your need.

- What should be my fitness level?

You should be capable of walking 15 km per day and exercise regularly. The trails are different and difficult.

- How heavy will my backpack be?

Ask your guide to find out what to and what not to throw in your backpack. You should not carry more than 5 Kg and our guides make sure you are not carrying unnecessary items.

- Can I walk this trail solo?

Yes, you can but walking alone in the wild areas is not as safe as any kind of accident may occur and there will be no one to help you. In higher altitude, you might suffer from altitude sickness. In such situation, you will need some experienced in handling such a situation.

- What distance will we cover every day?

We will walk around 15 km every day.

- Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, without travel insurance you cannot join any of our trek programs. Purchase travel insurance covering everything from health emergency to evacuation. We don’t sell travel insurance, so you have to buy insurance in your homeland.
