Everest Panorama Trek takes us all the way to Tengboche nestled at an altitude of 3,860m through rocky terrain, lush forest, vibrant villages, ancient monasteries, raging rivers, and cascading waterfalls. We dine and stay in some of the most spectacular areas.

The Everest Panorama trek is 17.1 km from Lukla to Tengboche. It is a rare adventure taking us into the wilderness of the Everest region. It is a moderate trek for reasonably fit people with the zeal for adventure.

Every day will present us with new challenges and adventures. We will hike through the rocky terrain, verdant meadows, lush forest, and flatlands. The 11 day’s tour will give you the experience of lifetime.

Lukla, the starting point of the Everest view trek, is a small village housing several souvenirs shops, local and international restaurants, and lodges. After having a cup of coffee/tea, we will start our journey to Phakding followed by Namche Bazaar and Tengboche.

Tengboche houses the largest monastery in the Khumbu region named Tengboche monastery, housing around sixty monks. From Tengboche, we can have a picturesque view of Thamserku, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, Everest, and Tawache. Here we will learn about the daily life of monks and their rituals.

Can you explain the Everest panorama trek Itinerary?

It is an eleven-day trip. The trek starts the next day you arrived at Kathmandu. You will board your flight to Lukla where you meet our well-equipped team and porters and embark into the most awaited trek to Tengboche. Every day we will walk for around 4 to 8 hours. In the first day of trek, you will walk for around 6.2 km which takes 4 to 5 hours. After spending a night in Phakding, we will head to Namche Bazaar where we will spend one extra day in order to acclimatize. After spending one full day enjoying the panoramic village, we will head to Tengboche next day. In Tengboche, we will visit the monastery, take pictures, have dinner and head back to trailhead next day walking through Khumjung village, Monzo village then Lukla.

Everest Panoroma Trek route and duration distance?

The trek is sculptured through Phakding, Namche Bazaar, and Tengboche. The round trip will be 34.2 km. Each day we will walk for around 4 to 8 hours. Excluding one acclimatization day, we will typically walk for seven days.

 

Day 1
Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu:

You will arrive at the Tribhuvan International Airport where our representative will greet you and drive you to your hotel. You will be staying at the heart of Kathmandu, Thamel so you may go for a short walk and buy the necessary gears for the trek. Our guide will give you the briefing about the trek in the hotel. Overnight stay at a cozy 3-star hotel.

Day 2
Day 02: Fly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding (4 to 5hrs):

Our representative will drive you to the airport where you will board your flight to Lukla. It is a short, scenic and electrifying 35 to 45 minutes flight. As soon as you land, our guides will accompany you. After spending a few minutes strolling around Lukla, drinking a cup of coffee/tea or having breakfast, we will head to Phakding. We will enjoy an easy walk today with abundant time to enjoy the first day of the trek. The trail follows the Dudh Koshi river with a mesmerizing scenery in the backdrop. The trail is flat with few ups and downs. We will pass through several small villages. We will have our lunch and dinner in Phakding. Overnight stay at a hotel on the bank of the raging river.

Day 3
Day 03: Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (5 to 6 hrs):

Today’s hike will take us further into the rugged mountains, starting with a relatively flat land followed by a steep uphill. We will walk alongside the Dudh Koshi river and cross it few times before reaching Monzo village, an entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. It is a small village housing few tea houses and offering view of Khumbi-la mountain and Thermasharkhu peak. We will need a trek permit and TIMS before entering the Sagarmatha National Park and our guide will arrange it. Continuing our hike, we cross suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi river before reaching the last village Jorsalle. We will have a luscious Nepali lunch in Jorsalle then continue our journey. From here the trail gets a little tricky. We will reach Namche Bazaar in two to three hours.

Day 4
Day 04: Rest Day at Namche Bazaar for Acclimatization and Excursion:

Acclimatization is very much necessary to adopt in the higher altitude. Today we will spend an entire day strolling around Namche Bazaar and hiking to the nearby place. Post breakfast, we will walk up to Everest View Hotel from where we can have vistas of magnificent mountains including Mt. Everest. Sipping Masala tea or coffee and snapping few pictures we will head back to Namche.

Namche Bazaar, known as trekker junction has a number of restaurants, tea houses, bakeries, souvenir shops, home theater, and local market. We will visit the museum and gain a deeper understanding of Khumbu area. If we reach Namche Bazaar on Saturday, we will get the opportunity to witness Saturday big market. We will spend a night at a hotel.

Day 5
Day 05: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (5 to 6 hrs):

Post breakfast, we depart Namche Bazaar for Tengboche, starting on a bit steep trail dotted with small bakeries and prayer flags. The path eventually leveled and the trek gets little easier. We will be accompanied by Mt. Ama Dablam most of the day. Crossing few pagodas and walking for a while on the rugged trail, we will get a glimpse of magnificent Dudh Koshi Valley. Hike through the colorful rhododendron forest and descend until we reach Phungi Thenga, our lunch spot. From here we will walk straight uphill around 2.5 km to reach Tengboche. Upon reaching Tengboche, we will take a short rest then head out to enjoy the views and Tengboche Monastery. The enchanting monastery’s beauty has been enhanced by impressive wood carving and paintings of Buddha. The soaring mountains in the backdrop make the place more heavenly. From here we can have vistas of Mt. Everest, Kwangde and Thermashaekhy peaks, Kangtenga, Mt. Ama Dablam, Nuptse, and Lhotse. In October, Mani Rimdu festival, one of the biggest festivals of this region is celebrated in Tengboche monastery.

Day 6
Day 06: Trek From Tengboche to Khumjung Village (5 to 6 hrs):

In a clear day, we can see the sun rising over the majestic mountains. After an early morning breakfast and enjoying splendid time in this heavenly village, we resume our trek, starting with treading downhill through lush forest and prayers wall. After walking for a while, we will cross the Imjatse river once again then ascend in a steep hill before reaching Lobisa followed by Shanasa village. Continuing on the same trail for an hour, we will finally be in the Khumjung village.

Nestled at an altitude of 3,790m, the village is the largest in this area. Here we can find facilities like mobile, internet and landline phones. If we reach Khumjung village on time, we will visit the old school incepted by Edmund Hillary. The place has a monastery which claims to have an ancient Yet-Scalp (about 300-year-old). We will have our dinner, interact with locals and roam around the village before calling it a night.

Day 7
Day 07: Trek from Khumjung Village to Monzo (5 to 6 hrs):

Our today’s destination is the entrance of Sagarmatha national park, Monzo village. The early morning walk will pass through the Khunde village and Syangboche airstrip. We then descend until we reach Namche Bazaar. Since Namche Bazaar has some of the finest restaurants in the area, we will stop here for lunch. After having lunch and spending a few minutes taking rest, we will head to Monzo village

Monzo, a small village has few hotels, teahouses, and lodge. Our dinner will be served here and spend a night at a hotel.

Day 8
Day 8: Trek from Monzo to Lukla (6 to 7 hrs):

The last day of our trek begin with a breakfast followed by a short hike to Phakding. Walking across the lodges, tea houses, hotels and on the plain land we will finally reach a village named Benker followed by other villages including Ghat and Chplung. Treading on the green valleys alongside the cascading streams and climbing for around an hour, we will finally reach Lukla. Since we will reach Lukla by afternoon, we will have our today’s lunch here. We will use the remaining time to visit the market, buy souvenirs, peek into the local lives and take pictures. In the evening, we will celebrate our victory with our team members, share our memories and make a new one.

Day 9
Day 09: Flight to Kathmandu:

Today, we will fly to Kathmandu, leaving this majestic region behind. We will have a bitter sweet feeling, sweet because we triumph the trail of world’s highest peak and bitter because we have to live this heavenly place behind. After 35 to 45 minutes flight we will finally be on the Tribhuvan International airport then you will be transferred to your hotel. You may spend the rest of the day as per you wish; stroll around the market or take rest.

Day 10
Day 10: Kathmandu sightseeing:

Touring Nepal is incomplete without visiting some of the most captivating cultural and historical heritage. So, the 10th day of the trip has been spared for the Kathmandu valley sightseeing. We will start by visiting the cultural hub of Kathmandu i.e. Basantanpur Durbar Square also known as Hanuman Dhoka. In the ancient time, it used to be the palace of Malla then Shah king. The place has some of the most amazing architectures. Here we will visit Kumari House, Taleju temple, Bhandarkal, Mul chowk, Ashoka Binayak Shrine etc.

Swoyambhunath: After strolling around Basantapur Durbar Square we will drive to Swoyambhunath, set on the hilltop. The plaza is popular among the Tibetan and Buddhist. It is a holy palace and lots of people come here to offer their prayers. We can hear monk chanting prayers, performing pujas and monkies playing around. Since the plaza is on hillock, we can see beautiful Kathmandu below. We will take pictures, enjoy the surroundings and appreciate the architectures before heading to Pashupatinath.

Pashupatinath, a temple of Lord Shiva is popular among Hindus. Hindus from all over the world come to Pashupatinath to offer the prayers. The area is quite huge and has numerous temples of various gods. Set on the bank of Holy river, Bagmati, the place looks amazing from the far.

Bouddhanath: Our next spot is Boudhanath located on the outskirt of Kathmandu. Popular for the shrines and gumbas, the place attracts thousands of visitors every year. The place is beautiful and reflects the ancient culture of Buddhist.

Day 11
Day 11: Departure:

With overwhelming experience and memories in your heart/mind today you will leave for your home country. Board your flight to your respective country and don’t forget to visit Nepal again, it has much more to offer other than trekking. We hope to see you again.

I have not trek before, can I embark into this trek?

Yes, it is a moderate trek. Anyone in a good physical condition can successfully complete this trek. The trekking distance is only around 34. 2 KM. This trek does not need any technical knowledge. However, if you want to enjoy every bit of trek without much body ache, you may start jogging or doing light exercise 2 to 3 months prior to the trip.

Is there any age limit?

No, anyone with good health can embark into this trek. However, if you are below eighteen, it is must to bring your guardians with you.

Is it compulsory to hire a guide or can I trek solo?

No, it is not compulsory, however, it’s not wise to travel solo in the wilderness area and high altitude. Different problems may arise and you will need someone with the good knowledge of this area and is capable of dealing with unforeseen issues. The branched out trail will be confusing and you may end up taking the wrong route. It will be difficult to find the right accommodation and food.

How long should I walk every day?

You will have to walk around 15 Km every day.

Is it compulsory to get travel insurance?

Yes, you cannot join us if you don’t have travel insurance. Buy travel insurance that covers all most everything. If any problem arises and you need immediate medical attention or rescue, you can use your insurance.

In which season trekking into this area is more worthwhile?

You can trek in any month except June, July, and August. Since it is a monsoon season, the trail might be slippery which will make walking uphill more challenging.

Where will I stay during the trek?

There are lots of tea houses and lodges in the village. You will be stay in one of that. However, these tea houses only carters the basic needs of the trekker.

What kind of food will I get to eat?

The food will be cooked according to your taste under the supervision of our guide. However, we cannot fulfill every demand of your because in high altitude it’s difficult to find many things.

What kind of trekking equipment should I bring?

Will I have to carry my belongings myself while on trek?

No, there will be porter who will carry your things. But you need to carry a backpack to keep your belongings like sunscreen, sunglasses etc.

Will I have to cover the additional expenses if the trip is extended for any reason?

Yes, no matter what’s the reason, you will have to bear the additional expenses caused by the extended trip. So it’s wise to spare 1 or 2 days before embarking into this trip.

What type of water will we get to drink while in trek?

Nepal Trekking path does not encourage you to use bottled mineral water as it pollutes the environment. Running water is not safe for health so we give you hot water to drink. Carry a bottle and reuse it all the time.

How difficult is it to complete the trek?

This is one of the easiest treks in the Everest region. You just have to walk 4 to 8 hours every. The trek can be completed within eight days. The trail is not that strenuous either. A bit of mental strength and physical fitness is enough to complete this trek.

Is there any possibility that I will face health issues? If yes, how to handle it?

It very common to get AMS Acute Mountain Sickness at the high altitude. Other than that, you might get a mild headache or upset stomach. But you don’t have to worry, our guides are expert in handling these types of issues. They will be carrying the first aid box with all the needed supplements. If they fail to cure you, there are a number of health posts in the village. If the case get worse and you need immediate rescue, we will arrange helicopter rescue but your insurance will cover the expenses.

Do you tailor the trek itinerary according to my need?

Yes, the trek can be tailored according to your need. Just let us know beforehand and we will see what can be done.

Is there any communication or internet facilities?

Yes, in some places you can find the phone network and cyber cafes. However, these cafes are very expensive and the internet speed is quite slow.

Is it compulsory to tip guides, porters, and drivers?

No, it not mandatory but it’s nice to help them in a way after all they have made your journey eventful. You can appreciate them and help their family by giving a little extra. However, it’s up to you whether you want to help them or not.

I have heard that the flight to Lukla get canceled often, what should I do in such condition?

It’s not that the flight get canceled often but yes sometimes it happens because of the weather in Lukla. In such situation, you may wait for an hour or 2 then board the flight or charter a helicopter. You have to borne the expenses of the helicopter.

Is it very cold over there?

It’s not easy to predict the weather up there because it keeps on fluctuating. Days are warmer than nights. In some seasons, you may expect the snowfall. Overall the weather is clear throughout the year.

Will I get hot water to shower?

Yes, you have to request for it. However, this will cost you some dollars.

Do I need a trekking permit?

Yes, it is mandatory but don’t worry Nepal Trekking Path will arrange it for you.

Can I extend my stay after embarking into the trek?

Yes, Trek can be extended one or two days. But in peak season, it might be difficult to find the hotel room for overnight stay.
